Shenzhen is not just a tech hub — it is a coastal city with 10 distinct beaches stretched along the eastern Dapeng Peninsula (大鹏半岛). From the easily accessible Dameisha on Metro Line 8 to the wild surf breaks at Xichong, these beaches offer something for every kind of visitor.
Unlike the tropical beaches of Thailand or Bali, Shenzhen beaches are subtropical and seasonal. The swimming season runs roughly May through October, with water temperatures peaking at 28-30 degC in July and August. The eastern beaches (Xichong, Dongchong, Judiaosha) have the cleanest water — Grade I by China's national standards — while the city beaches (Dameisha, Xiaomeisha) are more developed and easier to reach but can get very crowded on weekends and holidays.
