The beach itself is modest — a few hundred meters of coarse, natural sand backed by the town's main street. It is not manicured, not particularly photogenic, and certainly not where you would go for a resort-style beach day. But Nanao offers something that no other Shenzhen beach can: an authentic glimpse of coastal life in a Chinese fishing town that has not been sanitized for tourism.
